Service Description

This is a 12-week coaching intensive for actors applying to BFA and MFA programs. Clients will receive twelve private coaching sessions from Juilliard Graduate and Professional Actor, Jenny Leona, who will guide you through every step of the audition process. FIRST FOUR SESSIONS (60 MINUTES): You and Jenny will sit down together and go over the following topics: APPLICATION ADVICE: FINDING YOUR VOICE If you haven't discovered who you are as an artist, it can be hard to differentiate between the school with 'the best training' and the school with 'the best training for you and your goals.' This course will help to set you on a path that leads to your vision of a dream career. AUDITION MATERIAL Your material needs to accomplish several things at once. It needs to meet the audition requirements, represent your style/taste/humor, showcase your strengths as an actor, and hopefully, give admissions an idea of who you are as a person, a student, and a classmate. Jenny will offer suggestions and advice as two of you explore the options. FOLLOWING FOUR SESSIONS (90 MINUTES): Jenny will be giving you a crash course in some conservatory training basics. These tools will prepare you for your audition and give you an advantage in the interview process. TEXT ANALYSIS It's not just for Shakespeare and other heightened/classical text, it's your roadmap to a rich, believable character. CHARACTER EXPLORATION & DEVELOPMENT This is where the text analysis pays off. Now that we have extracted all the data we need from the play, we start to experiment and find the balance between you, the character, and the story we are telling. BODY AWARENESS & PHYSICALITY This is important for character development but life changing for auditioning. When you feel uncomfortable or checked out while performing, it tends to show in how you hold and move your body. LAST FOUR SESSIONS (60 MINUTES): These last few meetings will be spent perfecting your performance and building the flexibility and stamina to face challenges head on. PERFORMANCE, ADAPTABILITY, AND PROBLEM-SOLVING The ability to 'pivot' mid performance is a necessary part of acting and your biggest asset during a high stakes audition. After this course, you will have the tools to apply direction to your performance in real time, navigate mistakes on the fly, and walk into that audition feeling confident that nothing can throw you off your game.
